Niederberger grew up in a wood-interested family walking every sunday through the deciduous forests of southern Germany. Early experiences of smell, form and colours of beech, oak and maple trees was maybe the beginning of a lifelong enthusiasm for wood as material. Niederberger‘s education includes traditional furniture carpentry from Germany and a Master’s degree in art and design education from Telemark University College, Norway.
Niederberger focuses on sculptural expression and relief with wood as material, and has also been working with Readymades and Street Art. She is fascinated by organic forms and especially nature’s own twists of form and colour. In the working prosess she enters into a dialogue with every new material to bring out and create what the material itself allows. When possible she tries to let the viewer become an active participant. She also enjoys art and cultural dissemination.
